Nigerian Arrested In India For Rape Of Friend's Wife

A Nigerian man was arrested in India, not just for overstaying after his visa had expired, but also for allegedly raping his friend’s wife in the city of Bengaluru.
Bengaluru police reports that the 28-year-old identified as Christian Chidiebere Chukwu, was hiding from the authorities at his friend’s place in Bengaluru, following a warrant for his arrest.
The red corner notice was raised against him due to the expiry of his Visa.
Investigations reveal that Chukwu came to India in 2013, on a medical attendant visa. He came with his relative Loveson Chingrom Emesowum, and they were staying in Mizoram.
The accused reportedly took advantage of his friend’s wife (a 19-year-old Nigerian), when his friend was away.
India Today reports that the victim filed a complaint and that led to Chukwu’s arrest. It was discovered after his apprehension that the 28-year-old was a wanted person by the Mizoram police.
He is wanted for a few phishing and cheating cases within Mizoram and neighbouring communities.
Investigation into Chukwu’s case is still on, there are emerging details of how he was arrested by the Aizawl police in Mizoram and was remanded to judicial custody for around 38 days and with a fine of Rs 5,000 (N15,334)
